Pa Consolidated Statute Title 23 requires a 3-day waiting period upon applicants’ APPEARANCE in the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court Office.

Make application within 60 days of the wedding date.

Marriage licenses are valid for 60 calendar days from the date of issuance and may be used anywhere in the State of PA.

DO NOT APPLY unless you are within 60 days of your wedding date.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply for a marriage license. Pennsylvania law no longer permits individuals under 18 years of age to apply for a marriage license.

As of June 1997, Blood Tests are NO LONGER required to obtain a marriage license.

Effective January 1, 2006, COMMON LAW marriage is NO LONGER VALID in Pennsylvania.
REQUIREMENTS:
When you come into the Clerk of the Orphans’ Court office you MUST have the following with you.

Know your Social Security Number – bring your card with you if you do not know your number.

Valid, government issued Photo ID (state driver’s license, passport, military ID).

$55.00 CASH ONLY – we do not accept checks or credit cards for marriage licenses.

If you have been married before; bring a copy of your FINAL DECREE of divorce with the Judge’s signature on it, or a Death Certificate, whichever is applicable.This applies to ALL persons previously married.

The Clerk of the Orphans’ Court office is located on the first floor of the Huntingdon Courthouse at 223 Penn Street, Huntingdon, PA.

Non English Speaking Applicants must arrange to have a court-approved translator present during the completion of the application.

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION:
Turn off any web viewer pop-up blockers before you start.
Answer ALL questions. If you do not know the answer to a question, enter “Unknown”.
When you are ready to begin, click the ACCEPT at the bottom of the screen. You can then begin entering your information. You can use the SAVE function to save information and return to it at a later time. When you are ready to submit it to the county, use the SUBMIT function. Once you have submitted your application, please CALL the office at 814-643-2740 to make an appointment to complete the process.
